Bergen County extends cooling centers through weekend to meet heat index

Hackensack, New Jersey – Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco announces that Bergen County has extended the hours of operation of the Cooling Center throughout the weekend in an effort to help residents stay cool during the current heat wave.

UPDATE: The following locations will continue to operate as emergency cooling centers weekend 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 23rd and Sunday July 24:

Additionally, several municipalities are designating public spaces such as public libraries, shopping malls, recreation centers, and senior centers as cooling centers. Residents should consider visiting municipal cooling centers before traveling to the county facility to avoid heat exhaustion or heatstroke.
