Investigation underway after policeman hit with bottle during disruption at Tynemouth pub



An investigation is underway after a police officer was hit on the head with a bottle after police were called to a pub in Tynemouth.

Northumbria Police received a report of anti-social behavior at The Salutation in Tynemouth on Friday 17th September around 8:50 pm.

There, officers arrested a man and woman for impaired and impaired driving and were subsequently issued penalty notices.

When the police responded, however, a bottle was thrown, hitting a police officer in the head, causing bruising and investigations are underway to find those responsible.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: ‘Police received a report of antisocial behavior at a hotel in Tynemouth on Friday 17th September.

“At approximately 8:50 pm, officers attended the scene and arrested a man and a woman for impaired and impaired driving. They were then issued penalty notices.

“A police officer was also injured in the incident after a bottle was thrown and hit him on the head causing bruises. Investigations are underway to find those responsible.”
