Jamaica: Foreign Minister Kamina Johnson sends greetings on the occasion of “World Environment Day”

Jamaica: Senator and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith, issued greetings on the occasion of “World Environment Day”, held on June 5.

Kamina Johnson was a candidate for the post of 2022 Commonwealth Secretary General of Jamaica.

She took it to Facebook to express her wishes, which noted that, “Today we celebrate #WorldEnvironmentDay2022 under the theme ‘Only One Home’. More than ever, we must continue to adopt best practices for a mode sustainable living and encouraging habits that reduce our carbon footprint. This is our home, let’s all do our best to protect it #KJSforCSG.

About World Environment Day-

World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated annually on June 5 and is the United Nations’ main vehicle for raising awareness and action to safeguard the environment.

First marked in 1973, it has been a platform to raise awareness of environmental issues such as water pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable development as well as wildlife crime.

World Environment Day is a global public awareness platform, with more than 143 countries participating each year. Each year, the program has provided a theme and a forum for businesses, non-governmental organizations, communities, governments and celebrities to champion environmental issues.

Meanwhile, in 2022, Sweden will host World Environment Day. Being the most, and Sweden is celebrating World Environment Day this year. Also, the theme for World Environment Day 2022 is “One Earth”. All official business will take place in Sweden.

The idea behind the theme of “Only One Earth” is to note the unity of the world on the way to creating an atmosphere conducive to peace, harmony, prosperity and health by saving nature and life.

At the same time, the policy of the theme is to create and adopt a way of life which should be pollution-free and full of green land. The motorcycle is still similar to that of 50 years ago to protect mother nature. This planet is our only home and we must save it for generations to come.
